For those who love Infographics - www.infographiclist.com
This is one of the worst blogs for suggesting a budget wedding I’ve ever seen. There are FAR better ways to be budget friendly that what is suggested here, which is frankly a trainwreck. No photographer? I hope you want photos you’ll hate and want to cry over. Inexperienced officiant? I’ve seen this before, one decided he didn’t want to do the sand ceremony and didn’t, without telling the couple beforehand. The other was so nervous he was shaking while holding his notepad. And how about flowers? The floral suggestion was 16 centerpieces from etsy. I guess you don’t get bouquets or boutonnieres at all. There are plenty of good articles with decent ideas for how to plan a budget friendly wedding with good common sense ideas, this one is pretty insulting imo.
Well, Kristen, they forgot the venue, but I’m assuming they want it in your backyard (thats perfectly fine!), and they are also saying to not do food, or cake but to serve your own wine and brownies instead. LOL The photographer part is just ridiculous.
Yeah, you had me right up until the photographer part. Odds are as a bride/groom you won’t remember most of the day and the pictures will help you cherish the moments you didn’t notice in the haze forever. You don’t have to spend $3k on a photographer to get good work. Look for a budding photographer with a portfolio you like. Don’t trust that stuff to friends (unless they are a professional) and family. You WILL regret it!
Agreed: Pictures Are the MOST important part of the wedding other than the I do part!! This person needs to get more details to the wedding info. You can have a cheap elegant wedding with DIY stuff too. Just check around and use coupons at craft stores on stuff too.
Whoever made this obviously had their heart in the right place, but skipping a photographer entirely is not a savings. The pictures are the part that really lasts, and you can’t skimp on that. Friends with digital cameras will all get the same thing: four thousand blurry shots of the back of the bride’s head.
im getting married on October 13 2012 and i am having 120 guests and my entire wedding has cost 10,000 this list is crazy i mean come find an intresting centerpiece using little to no flowers( because they DIE)…. and instead of springing for the wedding package at a hall or hotel see what other options they have like a basic buffet….PICTURES ARE EVERYTHING… i mean seriously once your day has come and gone all you have are the memories in your head and your photos…. okay so you cant afford a professional photographer but there are better options than your friends …. call up your local community college or any college that has an arts and photography program ask to speak to the professor and see if his/her students do work on the side(most do) and he can probably recommend his/her top students you can most likely find someone to work in your budget……as far as invites and save the dates HELLO Acmoore or any crafts store most carry DIY kits which include everything you need just buy some ink you can jazz them up with self adhesive rhinestones, stamps, ribbons what ever you like and they have multipule designs and free online templates for easy use… i would think some form of entertainment/master of cermonies is needed try to find someone who will work with your budget….i agree with the dance lessons thing use youtube…
There are some serious flaws in the logic of this info graphic. $800 for velvet flower center pieces you won’t know what to do with after the wedding but spend nothing on good quality photos that are meant to last forever?! Sorry but friends and their iPhones can not replicate or even come close to a photographers eye and quality. The most important person to have is the photographer because once its gone, IT’S GONE!
$80.00 WILL NOT GET YOU ANY DECOR OR EVEN A CANDLE WHAT HAPPEN TO THE PERSONAL FLOWERS AND THE LINEN. FOR THE TABLES . NOT A VERY GOOD GRAPH>>>
I’m a big fan of “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know”. Having a huge network (and doing a LOT of DIY can save you BIG BUCKS.
kristengolden is right! Also, while it is expensive, a photographer is one of the most important parts of the day, and I guarantee you will regret it if you don’t hire one!
you forgot the venue and caterer! those are generally the most expensive part…
